Abstract

The acoustic emission (AE) behavior and the mechanism of the fatigue crack growth was investigated in both the ultrafine grain (UFG) state (after ECAP) and conventional heat-treated (T6) aluminum alloy AK4-1. It was found that AE events total number as well as cumulative energy of AE has correlation with the structure state of aluminum alloy and fatigue crack growth behavior of the specimens.
