Abstract

The paper reveals the basic categories of the historical and pedagogical researchof the development of the theory and practice of elite family upbringing and home education in Russia in the 18th – early 20th centuries. On this basis the paper describes the methodological, conceptual, scientific and theoretical, and empirical levels of considering the issue, proves the necessity of working out elitopedagogy as a wholesome and systemic theory, an important direction of research in which must be a historical and pedagogical apprehension of the best, high-class, elite traditions of upbringing and educating children in the family.
