STRENGTH AND FRACTURE RESISTANCE OF LAYERED METAL COMPOSITES AT DIFFERENT MODES OF LOADING

Abstract

The results of mechanical tests of layered composite materials based on steel with layers of ductile metals are obtained and analyzed. It is shown that these materials possess higher strength properties and fracture resistance as compared to the base metal. According to the results of dynamic and cyclic tests the influence of composite construction on kinetics of crack formation was studied and the values of dynamic fracture toughness characteristics were estimated.
