The DIAGNOSTIC STUDY OF CREATIVE ABILITIES OF THE PRIMARY SCHOOL CHILDREN WITHIN THE ARTISTIC AND CREATIVE ACTIVITY

Abstract

The historical transformations of recent years have dramatically changed the value orientations of Russian society, which led to a change in the goals and objectives of education. The product of education should be a person with personality striving for self-education, able to organize the own creative activity in view of changing living conditions, the requirements of the society. In this regard, the issue of development of creative abilities of children is one of the most urgent at the moment.

The paper presents the theoretical and diagnostic study of the creative abilities of the primary school children, characterizes the concept of “creative abilities” within the pedagogical context. The creative abilities are considered as the result of acquirement of knowledge and skills necessary for one or another type of the artistic and creative activity. From the point of view of the activity approach to creativity, the author considers the artistic and creative activity as a means of development of creative abilities of the primary school children.

The paper presents the criterion-level characteristic of the development of creative abilities of the primary school children where each of the selected criteria has a system of indicators characterizing the manifestation of the studied qualities according to this criterion. Each diagnostic technique corresponding to one of the selected criteria is presented in detail. The author carried out the analysis of the results of the selected indicators of diagnostic research of the development of creative abilities of the primary school children. According to the studied indicators and criteria, in the studied group of the primary school children, the creative abilities are developed at the high level among 36.5 % of schoolchildren, at the low level – among 13.5 % of schoolchildren, and 50 % of schoolchildren have the medium level of the development of the creative abilities.
